Tuesday Dallas Stars Roundup: Open Windows, Promotional Nights, Jani Hakanpää's Optimism, and Finding the Goals that Dallas Lost
Some news, some speculation, and a really foolish and fun exercise in Math
In case you missed it, I have a new piece up at D Magazine today looking at how long the Stars’ window as a Cup contender will realistically remain open. I’d be curious to hear your thoughts, so long as you agree with everything I said. If you disagree? Well, no thank you! How am I supposed to learn anything with all of your negativity dragging me down? Yeesh!
Anyway, check it out, or at least pretend that you did.
The Stars released their promotional schedule the other day, and it’s full of a bunch of themed nights, including things like Video Game Night, Scout Night, and First Responders Night.
(Aside: If Video Game night is anything other than a bunch of MegaMan and Ocarina of Time remixes, what are we even doing? Grubes used to be big into the Gerudo Valley drop, and that still feels like a big layup, to me, a Very Hip Millennial.)
The Stars will also, fittingly, have a night to honor the inductees into the Dallas Stars Hall of Fame and another one to honor Daryl “Razor” Reaugh, who was this year’s receipient of the Hockey Hall of Fame’s Foster Hewitt Memorial Award.
Another thing that particularly stuck out to me was the mention of three different Retro Nights:
For reference, the Stars have been doing these pretty regularly, like the one on January 16 against Montreal, or the one against Winnipeg the season before that. The scoreboard is usually old-timey, and some of the music and highlights are also themed accordingly.
