Why the Stars Traded for Michael Bunting
He's not Mason Marchment, but he's also not not Mason Marchment
The Stars have checked the second of their two major trade deadline boxes. On Thursday afternoon, Dallas traded a 2026 third-round pick to the Nashville Predators in exchange for left winger Michael Bunting.
Funny enough, that pick Dallas sent to Nashville was acquired from Seattle in last summer’s Mason Marchment trade. So in the end, Dallas shipped out a top-nine left-winger with one year remaining on a $4.5 million deal last summer for a draft pick that they then traded for another top-nine left winger with one year remaining on a $4.5 million deal. And the similarities don’t end there, as we’ll see.
