Tyler Myers skated with the team today. He’s day-to-day.

A familiar face was at morning skate today in Dallas: Jere Lehtinen, who’s in town for the Stars’ Alumni game on Saturday.

Seeing Lehtinen back at the rink is always cool. For someone who always eschewed the spotlight, it’s worth remembering that he is still the only Dallas Stars player to win an award that is voted on in the regular season. The three-time Selke Trophy winner’s sweater rightfully hangs up in the rafters at American Airlines Center, but somehow, I don’t think he spends much time looking at it when he’s here.

As far as the 2025-26 Stars, Glen Gulutzan didn’t mince words today: they aren’t playing well. And that’s a big reason why the Stars will be shaking things up tonight, going with 11 forwards and 7 defensemen rather than the usual 12/6 lineup.

“I haven’t liked probably our whole group here for a little bit now,” Gulutzan said. “So I’m just gonna mix things up, 11 and 7. I didn’t find any line combinations that I thought were really effective, so it allows me to mix and match some pieces there and see what we can find.”

Here’s what that mix looked like today, based on what we saw in morning skate:

Robertson-Johnston-Rantanen
Benn-Duchene-Blackwell
Bäck-Hryckowian-Bourque
Erne-Hyry

Lindell-Heiskanen
Harley-Lundkvist
Bichsel-Lyubushkin
Capobianco

Oettinger

The most surprising addition to that lineup might be Kyle Capobianco, who last played on February 4, when he logged 14 minutes in a 5-4 victory over the Blues thanks to Jamie Benn’s last-minute goal.

“You’re looking for energy anywhere,” Gulutzan said. “Capo’s a guy that hasn’t been in for a long time, so wanted to get him in the game. He brings good energy to our group, good puck-moving at the back end. You just do whatever you can to get, not the energy level back up, but the urgency back up.”

For Capobianco’s part, he’s been a very solid player for a Dallas blue line that has needed him for 31 games and counting, and Capobianco pointed to one area in particular that he’s seen as a big plus for him this year.
