Dallas needs a true MacKinnon/McDavid level superstar.

(Because they got one)

I was thoroughly sick of hearing that the Stars had only led for 60 seconds in the series. Thanks Game 5 for killing that one.

I’ll never have to hear that “Rantanen killed the team chemistry” again.

Hi Bob. Was wondering if you can check on something. On the NHL website showing the schedule and TV coverage for the 2nd round, the only TV listed for Game 6 vs Winnipeg is TVAS, which I understand is a Canadian Broadcast channel. I've emailed Mike Heika of the Stars but not heard back yet. This cannot be, can it? That a second round playoff game is not on ESPN or TBS or TNT? I have no idea how to reach someone in the PR department of the NHL. Between you and Sean Shapiro, am hoping for some clarity. Thanks. Bob

Hi Bob,

Short answer: Yes, it will be on US television, either on Turner or ESPN. All NHL playoff games will be on either of those networks.

Long answer: I actually was talking to Sean Shapiro about this today because it's the same thing for Washington/Carolina's Game 6, where no US television partner is listed, and he had the answer: If both the DAL/WPG series and the CAR/WSH series go to a game 6, then one will be on Turner and the other game will be on ESPN.

But if only one of those series goes six games, then only one network would get that one game. Not sure which network has that priority though, but I'm sure Sean will cover that, as he's always on the ball with media stuff like this.

Thanks, Bob. Much appreciated. I guess the burning question is. . .why hasn't the NHL listed the other TV partners. Somebody in their PR department has dropped the ball. BTW, as if we have any say, but I think a reader had commented last week that the Stars were 4-0 when ESPN covers the game. Ha ha! I think it would be interesting to see what you and Sean think, and your readers, as to what coverage they prefer. I personally like Messier and PK Subban, and yet, I also love Biss and the other day, they had Bones with him covering the Winnipeg game, and the interview they did with Adam Lowry after the game was unbelievable. I don't have the hate for Winnipeg that I do for Colorado, Vegas and Edmonton, being a Stars fan, but after that interview, I was like, wow, how could you not LIKE Adam Lowry. A terrific person.

They'll list the TV partners for those two games once they know whether both or just one are being played. They could each be on either network until they know how long those series are going. But yeah, it's confusing for them not to explain that.

A couple more narratives I'm happy to unhear:

- The Stars defensive lapses late in the season were the inevitable result of Miro's absence, and the remaining shabby D corps simply can't hold up any longer.

- Anything Gabe Landeskog does is the greatest thing since sliced bread, meat, and cheese. (Okay, yes, his return was simply amazing. Major hats off. But really, announcers? The breathless platitudes became really tiresome.)
