The Winnipeg and Colorado games this weekend will be "big" tests. Team will be well rested so no "excuses". However, no matter the results for those games you are 100% correct, the playoffs are a different matter and "Nothing Else Matters"
Two of the biggest games of the season coming this week. I hope we see the best version of this team vs WIN and COL. We need Otter to be much better than he's been playing recently. I would like to see the Stars grab a game by the throat and dominate at least one of these games. Would make me feel better about facing these guys come playoff time. Should be exciting games! Great write up Robert.
I think with the current D corp and their deficiencies, the Stars are going to need 2022 playoffs Round 1 Jake Oettinger. The stars have laid a major egg in at least 1 playoff game per series the past few years and it has cost them momentum and pushed them into some game 7s. No path to the Stanley Cup is going to be easy but Colorado in round 1 is going to be a slog and then they’d have to face the Jets (most likely). If they clear both of those hurdles it’s either EDM or Vegas (most likely). The final test would be FLA or WSH for all the marbles (most likely). Can they do it? Yes. If the offense stays hot, most of this is probably a moot point, but most of the Stars forwards end up on the back of a milk carton come playoffs, so only time will tell what they’re made of this time around.
One big difference this year, though; Mikko Rantanen. I don’t think that you will have to look for the forwards on milk cartons this time. My worry is the back end. I don’t like the idea of facing players like McDavid, McKinnon, or Eichel without Miro Heiskanen if he is unable to play.
They need a reasonably healthy Miro Heiskanen to win in the playoffs. I think that we all know this deep down. That’s why I’m a little uneasy about the playoffs right now. The Stars went into the 1997-98 playoffs as a clear Stanley Cup favorite — until Mason Marchment’s dad wrecked Joe Nieuwendyk’s knee. Then we knew that they would not have quite enough to get past the Red Wings.

They won’t have Roope Hintz in one or both games. But otherwise, yes.
