Both Heiskanen and Oettinger looked a whole lot more like their old selves in this game (even if you disregard the two goals by Miro).
The team is still struggling with their breakouts, but it wasn't as bad tonight other than in the stretch with Bichsel and Petrovic followed by Miro getting stuck on the ice for a very long time. Maybe they are turning the corner.
I think Bourque’s been really good without the results going his way … one of our most tenacious forecheckers, hopefully the points start coming for him.
Thought we played the third period pretty well with the lead, didn’t give up much defensively while still not exactly putting the queue in the rack. I reckon Gully can be pleased with the overall steps from the past two games
You can almost SEE the 💭 bubbles when watching 21-53-22 out there together. They think the game the same and it’s like connective tissue with that trio.
They got the bounces tonight… thinking both Petrovic and Lyubushkin are having a tough time… Maybe we give Taylor a try?
I absolutely love Steel, he hustles, plays above his weight class for his size, great on PK… but it’s almost criminal to have him as the receiver of the all world class passes/set ups from Rant. Steel got a nice tip tonight, but he is not a finisher.
Also Robert, I can’t say I watch enough hockey to know but do you think Lindell in front of the net on PP2 is a shrewd bit of coaching given he’s pretty comfortable doing that on the other end of the ice
Great summary, Robert. Was consumed with A&M v LSU last night and need to go back to watch the condensed game. I suspect the Stars will continue to be up & down for the next few games as they work out the kinks with new coaching dynamics and guys round into form after three years of deep playoff runs likely creating some start of the season mental fatigue.
I noticed Utah’s schedule this week looks pretty similar to the Stars’ opening slate, with the exception that they beat St Louis. They go against Winnipeg this evening. Pretty impressive regardless of result there.
I hope Roope is okay.

Just imagine Johnston getting those passes…
46 is for sure.
