I still don’t think Robertson is appreciated enough (not a shot at you). He’s so good and so unique.

If you could put a dollar value on how much he should be appreciated, what would you say that is? 😉

Ash's avatar

🤣🤣🤣 13.5 easily but the Stars simply don’t have the ability to do that.

I’m curious to hear the number Stars fans would be willing to swallow. Yours would make me a little queasy, but I think a part of me is waiting and hoping Robo fully justifies every penny with a Rantanen-esque playoff run (and that maybe Nill can work some pay structure magic).

I mean the number makes ME queasy because well, it would require roster surgery and even then- how would the Stars pay Mavrik Bourque or Nils (or a replacement)? Not to mention filling out a full roster. The math doesn’t really math- but I’m hopeful Nill can work magic.

A Rantanen esque playoff run for Robertson would be nice, and playoff dominance in general would be nice, but Robertson is a huge part of the Stars getting TO the WCF 3x and unless it’s a hard pivot to stacking the roster with depth scoring- losing his 90(+) regular season points would be huge.

See: Marner and the Leafs

But you’re right that it’s yikes to contemplate that kind of number and I think that kind of salary comes with the expectation of not just regular season magic but playoff magic as well.

I agree with you completely; Bourque was my first thought as well. Looking down the barrel of it, I don’t know how they’d wring a roster at least as good as this one out of the money that would be left 🥴 But I guess that’s why Nill got a contract extension and my opinion gets me zilch!

Klapka certainly was an interesting choice by someone!

He's so tall!

Did anyone ask Robertson postgame about the cop sweater he wore entering the arena? Whether he thinks so or not, it is a very directly political statement and a pretty gross and disappointing one coming from a guy whose overall vibe seemed so positive to this point.

Robertson was requested, but he wasn't made available to the media due to getting repairs for his facial injury.

Do what? Anyway, the Stars were a little off, hitting posts, for example. I've been enjoying Robertson's 'tude' increase. He's never going to get faster, but a little snarl in his game is a good thing.

There's been a bump in snarl this year, it sure does seem.

This is gonna be a weird comment. Stick with me. Or not, I can't make you do anything.

With the reunion of Hyrckowian - Johnston - Rantanen, I have formulated a name for this line, and I'm putting it out there, with no expectations, but it'd be funny if it caught on. Rantanen is also known as Moose. Johnston gets called Johnny a lot by his coaches. And Hyrckowian gets called Ritzy. Let's shorten that to Ritz, the famous cracker company.

So let me present to you all...the Johnny Moose Cracker line. Yeah, I'm kinda trying to make fetch happen, here, but this name is streets ahead. So what y'all think? Can we get this ball rolling enough to make John Buccigross say on national broadcast, "Johnny Moose Cracker strikes again!"

Sorry, Robert. You wrote a great, thoughtful article, and I left this nonsense down here in response. I'll return to normal programming next game.

I love this comment, but now I'm only going to be able to think of that trio as The Streets Ahead Line.

Mark's avatar

I'd be equally happy if that happened.

Willing to die on this hill: Petro needs more ice time and works well with Bish. That pair is proven in the playoffs for Dallas and Petro deserves his spot. Tear me apart on it….go.

I think Petrovic had a dip earlier in the year that lost him some ground for making that argument. I do think he showed against Colorado that he can jump right back in after a long layoff, but Tyler Myers is still my bet to start at 3 RD in Game 1.
