Great callout!! I was thinking this exact same thing. Not only were they getting beat on the faceoffs, but they were getting beat clean and getting hemmed in their zone. I feel like Hyry has gotta be in there until Roope and Faksa can get back.
The intensity of these games over the last week or so should have Stars primed for playoffs. These have been top shelf, high quality games.
The fact the Stars have eliminated the Avs each of the last two seasons AND has played them evenly this season AND despite everyone awarding the Avs the President's Trophy back in January and yet they have only a 2 point lead.....all this should combine to illustrate not much separates these two teams.
It's incredibly stupid these two teams keep facing off in round 1 or 2 of the playoffs...these are AT MINIMUM conference final quality matchups. Instead some half assed team from the Pacific is going to glide into the WCF to face a team that had to beat two of the 5 best teams in the league. The central division has been severely penalized by this archaic format for several years now.
Hope Hyry draws back in for the next game. As you mentioned, it would have been nice to have more faceoff wins for the chance to control things
