Was definitely hard to fight thru the audio until they finally got the echo sorted out. I do like the TNT broadcast team, too, but like all national broadcasts, I feel like they spend too much time discussing ancillary topics and having side conversations during live action instead of saving that for intermissions.
I’ll repeat what I said the other night: they aren’t going to go far in the playoffs without a reasonably healthy Miro Heiskanen. You don’t wear out Thomas Harley or Roope Hintz chasing the likes of Nate MacKinnon or Conner McDavid all game along if Miro is doing much more of it. The entire defense group looked tired and a little slow both physically and mentally.
Appreciate your balanced coverage on Oettinger, he was very solid and the main reason the Stars were able to get a point in the first place. Harley’s offside in OT very frustrating considering how important it was that we won the opening face off considering the quality of players the Avs had on the ice
Yeah, Oettinger really did have a bounce-back game. The overtime goal was a weird one, but I have a hard time hanging it on him, given that you have to push over for Makar, and the weird whip against the grain is pretty darn unexpected. Can't give him near post, which is what Oettinger is clearly expecting there.
I also thought that Oettinger was better tonight, although he is still going through a rough patch. He had that recent streak in which the Stars were winning pretty much every night and he stopped pretty much everything. And a lot of it is the group of defensemen playing in front of him and getting way more minutes than we would see if Miro was playing.
3on 3 is man on man… Harley was responsible for Macar straight up… he lost him… ok, Macar is damn good…
AND Otter cheated over which is why the back post was open. I won’t say it happens a lot… but “some” of the recent goals against Otter have come when he “over anticipates” and leaves staying square to the puck… early.
Robert, would you be willing to share your internal thoughts on Miro's injury/recovery status? I am in the cynical camp that reads between the lines of Nill's "updates" as merely GM speak, and I personally doubt he will recover from that knee injury in a month's time. Do you think Nill & Co. are actually being honest when they say Miro WILL be back in the playoffs?

Yeah, I think that's easier for them rather than risk talking about a team they know they don't know as intimately as many viewers do.

Agreed. Like the Avs without Makar, the Stars without Miro are good, but probably not a Cup team, in all likelihood

Thanks for always making it feel like things weren’t as bad as they felt.
I'll try to make up for it by making a decent game feel far worse than it actually is. #balance

Yes, later today in fact!
I appreciate your take Rob. Helped calm me down after the frustration of playing the Avs
