I was at the game tonight. It was great fun! Otter was very good tonight, again (I don’t blame him for either goal). Jamie Benn is playing some really good hockey. And I think that the Tyler Meyers acquisition is going to help the Stars more than you might think. You need that extra level of physicality and nastiness come playoff time.
1. Agree with you on Myers. He had some great stick play to get into the offensive zone too. Really noticeable.
2. We don't live in Dallas, but try to get to 7-8 games a year. This was one of the better regular season crowds I can remember experiencing. Lots of demons being exorcised.
3. The USA chants...man. I get the fervor, but the Stars aren't exactly Team USA. I kinda don't get it (and if this were Reddit, I'd get downvoted).
4. We were there very early and were down by the bench during warm-ups. These guys really react well to the fans. Lots of pucks to the kids in front of us, Oskar gave a girl a puck because she had his jersey (and a homemade Oskar hat) on, and Wyatt signed a stick and gave it to one of the people near us. Really cool to see.
5. Tristan Jarry. Man. As the above image from the box shows, I bet McDavid is displeased...and that makes me happy.
6. I love our 3rd and 4th lines. Scrappy. Fast. Talented. LFG.
There is nothing better than Miro frustrating McJesus to the point where he starts throwing fists, if you could call it that, at the rest of the team. The extra 1% is coming thru in spades!
Thanks, Robert. some of the videos work but others just freeze after a few seconds. When I refresh the page, it still freezes. So the Benn goal froze at the 2nd or 3rd second where he is on the edge of the crease but the puck isn't in the net. Hope that helps. Not a huge deal. Love your work!
First: If other folks are having this issue, please chime in.
Second: To troubleshoot further, I'm not having that same issue on Chrome or in the Substack app. Are you using another browser like Safari? And are you watching on a computer or a phone?
Often it's a memory thing, where too many videos loaded on one page can cause the browser to fail to load them all, but that's just a guess right now.
I spent a good portion of the beginning of the season saying, "Wait, when the hell did we get that guy, and where the hell did he come from?" But man, am I grateful that Hyrckowian and Hyry are a part of this team. They make us better, and I do not envy the decisions Gully and Nill will have to make when Rantanen, Hintz, and Faksa are healthy again.
The undrafted finds are critical for teams like Dallas, and you’d have to say they’ve done really well in getting them.
As for who comes out when everyone is healthy, I think Hryckowian probably moves back to wing, Faksa displaces Hyry, and Erne and Blackwell probably wind up behind Bunting and Benn on the bottom-6 RW depth chart.

We were there too. So much fun. A few notes.

Glad you enjoyed it as much as we did. Cheers!
Great game! I know it’s obvious in the box score, but it seems like Bunting hasn’t hit his stride with this team yet (nor has he had to).
Who needs him to, when we’ve got a Hyry? (Just kidding—we did pay for him, after all!)

Great write-up and analysis of a super fun game. The videos only work sporadically for me. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Craig. Sorry to hear about the video issue. Can you describe what happens when you try to play them, so I can troubleshoot?

I was using Safari on my computer so I'll try Chrome. thanks!
To be clear, it *should* still work on Safari, but if switching browsers is a temporary workaround, at least that's one alternative.
