Big picture not too many concerns, some exceptional 5 on 5 play against the top team but that ending stings. Love Otter but he really needed to save the Necas goal and the last one too. Ah well we got away with one in the first game against the Avs so I guess it’s even. Looking forward to seeing these new pieces and hoping for the best for Roope
I think Oettinger needed to be just a little better than he was. Some of those goals looked stoppable. And at times he seemed to be fighting it.
As I see it, it’s pretty much a toss up between a fully healthy Stars (except for Seguin) and the Avs. But they really need Roope and Mikko. And again, better goaltending.
Oettinger is why I have a lot of reservations about this team. He's meh. Has been for basically his whole career. Good. Solid. Nothing great or spectacular.
I'd argue DeSmith has outplayed him and deserves a shot in the postseason. The Stars strength in the net is their depth, not their starter.
Just want to say thank you again for such amazing reporting and insights into each game. You’re the first thing I read after each game and always find little tidbits I may have missed in the broadcast. Kudos Robert.
I don't know what the final numbers were but Avs won SOOO many big faceoffs...and easily.
At one point, I counted the Avs CLEANLY winning 6 consecutive offensive zone face-offs while on the PP.
The goal at the end of the 1st period doesn't happen without the Avs cleanly winning a O-zone faceoff. The final game-tying goal doesn't happen without the Avs cleanly winning an o-zone faceoff.
Every single time the Avs NEEDED a FO win they dominated on the dot.
Otter was betrayed high glove on the last 2 Avs goals. He needs to work on this. He also was deked silly the same way in the shootout...not a good look.
I know Benn missed the empty net, but Justin had the puck on the left wing with a wide open net and instead chose to pass. That's the only mistake he made all game. Too bad. Just pray Roope is not season ending injury. He's had tough injury luck for 3 years in a row for the playoffs. Our injury luck is running out.

Plain and simple. Otter needs to be better. Fingers and toes crossed for Roope🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
What more does DeSmith need do to win the job?

Thanks, bud. I really appreciate the kind words.
