Hey Robert, great meeting you at the IIHF in Frisco a few weeks ago!!! 9 SOG after 40 minutes just doesn't cut it. Ugh!!! By the way, Matt Duchene as a Dallas Star: Regular Season = 0.90PPG, Playoffs so far = 0.39PPG. For his NHL career: Regular Season = 0.78PPG, Playoffs = 0.57. I'm thinking he would fit really well in Toronto :) :) :)............. GAME 6 should be awesome.
Was great to meet you, Michael! Yeah, Dallas didn't go for the throat in this one, and it ended up costing them. I'd expect a better effort Saturday. Duchene checked in with a big goal last year at this time, so we'll see if he does so again.
Thanks for a great analysis along with talking Stars fans off the ledge. Five in five they’ve been excellent. Winnipeg had some luck last night and you have to give them credit for their play, too. The Ted Talk was just icing on the cake. Great work, terrifically well thought out and executed!
I still think the Stars win in 6…. however, one of my biggest frustrations about the Pete DeBoer era (besides getting to G6 of the WCF two years in a row and hitting a wall) is the lack of killer instinct in the playoffs. This team cannot seem to put people away after they get their 3rd win of a series. I know the excuse is teams facing elimination play with a little more desperation, but the Stars have a penchant for not even showing up in these games:
2023 Seattle G6 - 6-3L
2024 Vegas G6 - 2-0L
2024 Colorado G5 - 5-3L (and it wasn’t that close)
2025 Colorado G6 - 7-4L (all four goals scored during the Roope and Mikko show in the second period)
2025 Winnipeg G5 - 4-0L
The Stars have been shutout twice, and none have these games have been closer than 2 goals.
The one series this doesn’t happen was against Minnesota in 2023, but the Wild were the kings of self-sabotage and it still took a mistake by a one legged John Klingberg for the Stars to put the series away.
There seems to be a trend, and it’s a big red flag, and something other cup winners don’t seem to have an issue with.
So this is a real test. Either the Stars really have the “deepest, most talented” forward group in the league or they’re grossly overrated
The blueline and the goalie have done enough to win this series - the forwards have not. It’s game six, at home on a Saturday night in front of one of the best group of fans in the NHL.
If there what they’re advertised as we’ll see an easy win. Goals early and often. Dictating play. Owning possession. Physical play.
This group has underperformed in my opinion and this is a chance to show your real colors.
Robertson. Benn. Marchment. Duchene. Seguin. Dadonov. Mikko. Hintze. Johnston. Nine guys who need to overwhelm and dominate. That’s what I’m looking for.
No drama. No heroics. Make this a no-doubter from the opening face-off. Outside of Mikko no one is really making things happen - this is the time to do it.

Hey, thanks!
What could possibly be stronger motivation than that, unless you replace “Winnipeg” with “Oklahoma.”
As an Oklahoman, what did we do to deserve this stray, Rob?
If you have to ask, well,
