Really happy with the work Nill has done so far. I still wonder about resigning Duchene, but he's been a good fit for us despite his poor showing in the playoffs. Need to get rid of Dumba. There are still questions to be answered. We're short at LW. Where does Robo play? With Hintz and Mikko? Next to Dutch? With WyJo? Benn shouldn't be weighing Wyatt down any longer. He doesn't being in the top 9 any more. Nill has to find some help there. Only way to do that is by moving out Dumba and Lyubushkin.
I'm not really excited about the prospect of Gulutzan as the head coach here. Having the 2 best players in the world on the unit you oversee is going to make you look like a genius. It's been 7 years. Why hasn't he been given a chance at a head coaching job? There are others I would rather take that gamble with.
Trading (preferable) or buying out Dumba must occur. I still believe Lyubushkin should be traded. Then look at someone like Jordan Spence of the Kings who is a far superior puck mover which the defense really needs. David Castillo had a great article a few days about some possible moves and Spence is intriguing for about a 2 million saving which could be used to add another forward.

Hopefully Nill can work some magic or voodoo or something and convince Carle to coach the Stars. If not, throwing another name out there, how about Steve Ott. He has been an assistant for seven years so there is NHL experience. He is young enough to understand the younger players and I think he would have the respect of the older players. Then bring up Graham as an assistant.
I don't know how on earth you'd convince LA to move Spence. He's cost-controlled for a while, a right-shot D, and he's played 16+ minutes a night for them. The Stars don't really have the assets to acquire him without moving Robertson from where I'm sitting.
Friedman on Jordan Spence (32TP): "I think that's a name to keep an eye on...I just don't think that the Kings feel that Space & Clarke on the right side together works, they're both right hand shots, they both need to play..Clarke I don't believe is available, Spence I think is"
Well, Elliotte tends to know these things. If David has a good proposition for the trade, I'll defer to him. But I just don't see the Stars having the assets to make a move like this.
They've gone a lot of games in the past few seasons where they aren't carrying the full 23 players. They can use emergency recalls if it gets to that point, but thus far, rolling with 21 or 22 has been sufficient.

12 and 7 plus 2 goalies is still only 21 players. I don’t see how JUST dealing or buying out Dumba makes the math work for a full 23 players
