Since I'm convinced Finnish players just become better by joining the Stars, Henri Jokiharju feels like a must get

Will we ger Jokiharju for 5 nd pick ?

Buffalo seems ready to move on from him, so the cost should be fairly low.

A 4th or a 6th but never trade away a 5th. That’s where Dallas strikes gold. Oh and something something booze joke.

Swapping Robo for Rantanen is very interesting.

Justin dismore's avatar

How about keeping him and still getting RANTENEN

Ooh, interesting theory there about Chicago “chumming the waters,” as Marek likes to say, to get Florida to bid against themselves. I can’t remember where I heard it (I listen to so much NHL crap, term of endearment) but someone else said that Dallas wasn’t actually interested in acquiring Jones.

I know the Rantanen rumors are juicy but I don’t really think I want to see the Stars in on that… the Moose looks like a losing proposition to me 😬

Friedman is the king of gossip and eventually he will strike lightning and get something right... Rantanen isn't one of those times.

I'm reminded that even a stopped clock finds a nut once in a while.

Or was it even a blind squirrel is right twice a day?

Would like to see them go after Luke Schenn. Jamie’s buddy from back in the Kelowna days. Big right shot Dman with two cups on his resume. Perfect 6/7 dman to slot in when need be.

Robert Tiffin's avatar

I could see it!

On, sacrilege begins….

Trade Heskanin (assume no NTC???)… for right to Ratenenenen and must sign before trade.

Also give Dumba… and get a solid d in return… they’ve got a bunch!

I know it’s against the common belief, but I believe the did between Heskanin and a very good Dman isn’t as great as the offense provided by a world class forward, compared to a good forward.

Scoring is needed more in playoffs is my message!

Let's take the players out of this for a second and just talk asset management: is there really enough of an upside to trade one of the best contracts in the NHL for what will likely be an overpay these next few seasons? Especially considering the renewals that are due.

Now let's go back to the actual players: trading a not-even-prime-yet Miro is *insane*!

It's not realistic or even really a remote need, but I'm taking the opportunity to just say how badly I have always wanted Patrick Laine to be in Dallas. Seeing the Starkiller himself - who's a Finn at that - in Victory Green would be so ironically poetic. Does anyone else forget that he is only 26?

Robert Tiffin's avatar

You know, I once thought that about Sheldon Souray, too. Then he finally made it to Dallas, and the reality was a shadow of the memory. Laine is too flawed to succeed the way this team is structured, I fear.

Robert,

Thinking back to my original comment... I guess you could refine my desire for Laine into something more along the lines of a "lethal sniper of a goal scorer, on a division rival, who happens to be Finnish."

Never in a million years would I have thought it would be Mikko Rantanen, but safe to say he's a literal dream come true. I need advice on how to contain my excitement for this team as it's the most hope I've ever felt as a Stars fan.

Robert Tiffin's avatar

No need to contain anything with a loose Moose in the building. Enjoy the ride!

I still don't see why no one is talking about Ristolainen. 30 y/o R shot D, $5.1M AAV for 2 seasons past this one.

Robert Tiffin's avatar

Teams have asked, but Philly would want a truckload to unload him. Tortorella really doesn't want him to leave. And they don't have to move him.

Justin dismore's avatar

Welp im glad your not the gm in dallas cause we wouldn't of gotten RANTENEN (LIKE WE DID) or signed wyatt johnston to 5 years at 42 mil (like we did)
