First day I don’t check news of any kind and THIS happens. Just finding out about it. I’m not even a bit surprised. The mishandling of a franchise goalie will get even the best NHL coaches fired, and Pete is definitely in that group. Good luck finding any coach who is nearly as good as he is. But…the whole Otter thing was just brutally bad and maybe it’s not the only problem, just the one that was so bad that we all know about it.

You nailed this Robert. I had forgotten about the practice violation. Also, although a good coach, nothing ever seemed to be PDBs fault in his eyes. Maybe that’s a reason he ends up battling with goalies as he does not see that position performance as a reflection of his performance. Even his time in Vegas, he never really took accountability for things going wrong.

I agree with the decision but apprehensive of the options out there. Laviolette, Torts, Gallant are names I don't want to hear!!

PDB… this team was a boring, defensive first minded, very low event hockey team until he came here. Under PDB they played uptempo, offensive minded, exciting to watch team. The players seemed to have more fun out there, and it was VERY much more fun to watch… never boring.

Thanks Pete!

I enjoyed Pete and all of the success we've had over the past 3 years. The failures of the past 3 WCF have been concerning. Game 5 was the first time I was really pissed off at him, and his handling of the aftermath was terrible. I didn't think they would fire him, so there must have been things simmering behind the scenes. So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Hmmm....well Nill is going to have to bring some more of that magic he is known for and find another great coach. The players...at least get to the Finals, or there will be changes.

DeBoer was great and if he got fired for being honest then Nill is the weak link. I don’t see Nill taking any blame. Jake like the rest of his teammates were ok in the WCF. Nill dropped the ball last summer with the two FA defensemen he signed to over $3M/year. That was dumb and a roadblock to keeping good players.
