"We want to ride the ride. And you will miss out on a whole lot of the highs if you refuse to risk the lows."
That quote got me good.
Going into tonight, I feel like I did when the Stars were down 2-0 to Colorado in the 3rd period of Game 7 last year. Just completely resigned to defeat, but still ultimately hopeful. And, my word did it pay off.
So, it may not pay off tonight. But, even if we go out, it seems like we're going out swinging. That's why I will love, live, and die with this team and this franchise.
Sports, man. There's a reason why they're the best.
I feel like Game 6s tend to deliver the most drama. Something about one team being able to end the series and the other facing elimination brings out the theater. Especially if you get to an OT. Stars have finished opponents off 2X in game 6 OTs the last couple years (Winnipeg and Colorado); let's hope they can keep that game 6 magic alive.
I really think going with Heiskanen-Harley is the best decision, you need to play as much as possible 5-5. The problem I see with that pairing is with Heiskanen also playing many many minutes on PK.
I agree. It’s one thing I just haven’t ever quite agreed with Gulutzan about: I think those PK minutes are better handled by other defensemen. But it’s hard to argue with the work the PK has done in the series.
At this point, I'm expecting an "empty the tank" kinda win tonight and a 2016 Game 7 Stars v. Blues performance in G7. But here's to hoping we give ourselves a chance on Saturday!
Thanks for the reminder. I occasionally find myself in a place where all I care about is wins and losses. I'm so focused on the standings, and the next round, that I forget the reason I'm there in the first place is to watch them *play*.
Good to see them going back to what has worked well since its inception in Cedar Park…a Bischel/Petrovic blue line.
This was a fantastic read
Thank you Robert

LFG Stars.

Wait - Gully is making adjustments??
Losing two in a row will do that!
Does Nill influence any of the lineup decisions or does he leave that to the coaching staff?
The GM's job is to hire a guy who would make the correct decisions. Only bad GMs dictate lineup decisions. Jim Nill is not a bad GM.
I’m sure the two of them talk, but as Patrick said, coaches usually have the final say.

Absolutely love the new lines!!!
And, your writing!
Never a fan of roller coasters myself… but the Stars are always one hell of a ride :)
Cheers, Scotty!

Okay, now I remember. So thanks.
